Fit was perfect! The top allowed me to wear a bra with the dress for extra boob support. I'm 5'7" and usually a size 6/8 so I went with the 44L (6). The length was perfect. And the "thigh action" high slit was the icing on the cake! There is s reason why this dress is called "and the winner is!" I felt like a winner all night and my husband loved it too!!! Plus my stylist Shalema B. Was a rockstar and so helpful! Love Rent The Runway!!! And love this dress! Rent it today!!! You won't be disappointed!

Perfect for a fancy black tie wedding. My bust is small so my bra was showing when I sat down but other than that, I loved it! I got so many compliments and was comfortable all night long.

--- My measurements: I'm 5'3-4, 135 lbs, a usual size 4, 28" waist, & a 36C cup. --- Pros: This dress fit like a glove. I have a large posterior and it accented it nicely. The slit does not come up too high. The fabric is slightly stretchy and comfortable. --- Cons: The only con was that because I have smaller shoulders, the straps were a little big and shifted revealing my bra at times (see picture above).

So I'll admit that This dress didn't really jump out as being the most unique dress to choose from on RTR at first....but let me tell you, when I put this on, it made me feel like no formal gown ever has! The details on the dress and high quality fabric are incredibly slimming and lengthening! As fun as it is to get compliments on how beautiful your dress is (of which I received many!), I had multiple people throughout the night tell me how good my figure looked (in it). Now that is awesome! As I expected, I did have to wear 4" heels, but that was not a problem at all. I would highly recommend this dress for any formal occasion! I was so bummed to return it! Dear RTR, First, thank you for doing such a great job of mastering the art of customer service! You could not have done a better job taking care of me when my original rental was damaged by the previous renter. Secondly, if you ever decide to sell this one, PLEASE call me first! Beautiful dress- I did not want to let it go! I have a small bust, so I had to fill in to achieve the perfect fit. I LOVED the high open leg- along with the low neckline, this dress was super sexy!

Other than the fact that I noticed some loose seams around the slit the dress was amazing

The dress is very true to size and was definitely a hit at the wedding. The slit on the side was very great when standing but very high up when sitting, just something to note! Length was perfect with 3 inch heels

Now when i first saw it on RTR i was not a fan, to me it just looked like a usual black dress but i was in a crunch since the other dress i was supposed to wear was ruined by the previous user. I settled for this one and another option but when i received it my mind was blown and i was so in love! The fabric was perfect, it fit me perfectly and the slit and plunging neckline was so sexy and just right. You cant really see the bow in the picture but it looks amazing and not at all overwhelming. This dress had no cons, only pros. This was the perfect dress for my event i was so beyond happy with it. My date loved it and couldn't stop staring at me and telling me how beautiful i looked all night. Now to sum it up in one word: PERFECTION! <3

At first glance, I wasn't very interested in this dress, as it's not exactly my style (I hate bows). But I tried it on and fell in love. It's so flattering and classy, but the slit adds that extra sexiness. I felt really great in this dress and would wear it again! The only issue I might have would be that the slit is pretty high up, and was afraid of moving around too much for fear that it would rip! Other than that, wonderful dress.

I absolutely loved this dress! It fit wonderfully and was comfortable. I gave it only 4 out of 5 because the top was a little showy like previous reviews said, and I am petite on top so I had to adjust a few times during the night so my bra didn't show! But overall it was gorgeous and I received many compliments. Also, after a big dinner, it still looked great! This is the second time I have rented my ball dress from RTR and it's always been a wonderful experience!

True to size. Little to no stretch. Deep v top. I wore extra cups to fill out the top, you will too if small chested. Looks better than on the model

Long is a touch too long. Tight in the hips for curvier ladies. Need tape in the center to prevent a peep show. But! The positives are: straps make it fuss free (not tugging up the dress all night) thicker fabric makes the dress pretty forgiving, sleek look.

This dress was a hit at the party. Everyone complemented me on how elegantI looked. It was also super comfortable to wear and dance in all night long. A must for a black tie gala!

The dress is long, it fits small by the waist and loose by the bust. The cut on the dress is very sexy, you might want to wear shorts under if you don't want to look too revealing.

The bust was very loose and I didn't have tape so my only option was wearing a black bra which blended in with the fabric and looked like it was part of the dress. I could not pantyhose because the slit was so high that the control top showed. I should have gotten another size smaller. Besides the fit, it was comfortable and easy to sit and dance in, and the military commander's wife told me I wore the perfect dress and had "classic Old Hollywood beauty"! I would definitely order this dress two or even three sizes smaller because it runs very large.

I rented this dress in 38R & 40R and did not end up wearing either one. The description says the fabric has "some stretch," and it definitely does NOT! I had to squeeze into the 40 (pictured), but I could tell after a couple hours I would have been very uncomfortable. Also the bow looked very bulky. Maybe for a larger bust, I'm 34D, having one more big thing on the front of the dress just wasn't working. Fortunately, RTR customer service helped me find a replacement dress by another designer in time for my event and it was perfect!

This dress is beautiful! It was a little large on the top for me, so I had to pin it back just a bit. Other than that, I loved it!

I loved this dress! If i could have purchased it i would have. The slit was high enough to be sexy without going over the edge, and it fit like a glove. I'm smaller chested so i pinned the opening shut just a small amount. Everyone commented on this dress, it was perfect!

I am relatively curvy: large bust and booty - and this dress hugged in all the good places! I ordered the 6L (because they were out of the 6R) and 8R as my backup, and it's a good thing I did! I wore relatively high heels (4") and the dress came right down to the floor - it was PERFECT. I think if I had gotten the regular length, the dress would have been too short (and I'm not even that tall!). I would not recommend this dress for someone who is smaller than a C-cup. Even though my chest was able to fill out the dress, I still needed some fashion tape to make sure the dress didn't pop open at the chest (I mistakenly wore a nude bra. If I had worn a black bra, all of this could have been avoided as you wouldn't have been able to tell). If you are of small cup size, you'll likely be gaping in the chest area. With that said, I'm not sure if a smaller size fixes the problem. In short, some quick recommendations if you're planning to get this fabulous dress: wear a black bra, have some fashion tape on hand, opt for the long version if you're taller than 5'5" and wearing heels, and if you're wearing tights, make sure you don't get any that offer compression at the top because your slit will go higher than your tights. (I had to roll up the bottom of my spanx since they were peeking through the slit. Overall - great fit, great dress. Would definitely rent again!

a bit low cut but incredibly flattering. definitely runs a bit long but a good pair of heels will remedy that.

This dress doesn't look like much on the rack, but it fits really well. I wore it to a black tie wedding and felt really glamorous in it.

This dress was perfect in all aspects. The bodice allowed for all figure types; the slit up the side was not too daring. Cannot recommend this dress more!

This dress fits like a dream. I am 5'7" and wear 3-4 inch heels. I wanted the 38L but it was not available. The 38R was ok, 2 inches off the ground with heels (i prefer gowns touch the floor). The slit wasnt as high cut as I expected from the reviews. I did not need to wear shorts and the slit hit about mid thigh. I am a B 32 and did not need fashion tape, the V cut front front great.

Beautiful fabric and cut of dress. The waist was small which was perfect for me. The length was great but I did need nearly 4 inch heels. The slit is high so be warned although I found it appropriate for this black tie event and I generally think I'm a little more conservative than others. Depending on the fit it may be too much for some people but I loved it!

This was not my original rental. Unfortunately, my original rental was ruined by the previous renter. As a result, I came across this long black dress that seemed perfect for the black-tie wedding I was attending that weekend and this dress did not disappoint! The picture does not do this dress justice, but I got compliments all night! I am 5'8' and wore 4 inch heels and the length was perfect! Would definitely rent again :)

Pro/Cons Dress is very nice and fit almost perfect but was a tad tight on the waist. I'm short in the waist so it was snug but I'm afraid the size larger would of been too large. I used fabric tape to keep the top from forming a gap even though I'm a full C cup. Wore it to a Black tie wedding.

I live in New York, so was able to pick out this dress at the Soho studio. The style wasn't normally something I would go for, but it looked good in the store, so I went for it. The dress was comfortable and I was definitely able to dance it in. I got lots of compliments during the night so that was great. I looked at Italian size conversions and a 40 converts to a 6 in American sizes, so this definitely runs small as I'm usually a 2. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars was because I did feel a little uncomfortable with the low neck line. I have small breasts and kept looking down to see if my bra was showing. The high slit also made me feel like I should've gotten a spray tan :) Overall nice dress for one time wear. The bow is also really pretty which is hard to tell from the picture.

The shape, the bow, and leg slit were all in good taste. The fabric felt a little cheap. But no one noticed. I received a ton of compliments!

The simple elegance of this dress made it just lovely and the stretchy fabric hugs all of the curves. It's comfortable to wear but the straps are perhaps designed for a taller woman (I am petite) and thus the v-neck flared out and was too large (that's coming from a 34E - chested lady). I should have used pins to secure it but I was left tugging on the dress all night. I did receive compliments and it was great to wear a regular bra with straps--but my bra showed so much people thought it was a part of the dress. Not sure how to feel about that.

This gorgeous black gown was my backup dress - rented the 40R and the 42R . The 40R fit perfectly on top but was a bit tight on the bottom (I am pear shaped). The 42 was way too big on top and fit my bottom half perfectly. However, I didn't end up wearing this (wore the YIGAL AZROUËL Goddess of the Heavens Gown) but i would rent it again for my next formal event and hope that Spanx will do the trick for the 40R...

I tried this dress on at the rtr showroom and the sales assistant put the order in for me incorrectly and put in a size 8 and 10 instead of a 6 and 8. I never wear size 8 but due to timing was stuck wearing it. It was too big in my bust area and shoulders and throughout my body. I think if I was wearing the 6 it would have fit snug and really accentuated my waist. It is a gorgeous dress and I do think it will make your body look great if it fits properly.

If I could have had this dress tailored for me it would be perfect. I have a short torso and think that may have thrown off where the slit hit. I got a 4 and a 6 and was not pleased with the fit of either--I returned for a different dress. RTR was great and credited my account.

im a little hippy. the dress had the perfect amount of stretch. im 5'5" and wore 4" heels. the long was the perfect length. the regular would have been too short with heels.
